City/County Reimbursements

Of the 46 senior service programs in San Mateo County, Senior Coastsiders operates seven, but we are the only senior center in the county that does not receive any funding from their local municipality or the county.

Almost all Senior Centers across the nation are at least partially funded or managed as part of their local municipalities’ recreation or social services programs. Senior Coastsiders has initiated a campaign with the City of Half Moon Bay and the County of San Mateo to establish consistent annual funding in the form of “reimbursement for services rendered.” We seek an annual sum between $250,000 and $300,000 likely to be derived 50/50 from the city/county.
